Swinley Forest Golf Club is one of the country’s premier private members’ golf clubs.

Swinley Forest Golf Club is seeking a capable Greenkeeper / Machine Operator to join our team. This new position has been created following a recent retirement and offers a great opportunity for a professional who enjoys a mix of traditional greenkeeping and essential machinery work.

In this role, you will be a key part of the team maintaining our heathland course. You’ll be responsible for ensuring the course remains in excellent condition through a variety of daily tasks and project work.

Working a 40-hour week with a weekend rota, although some flexibility will be required during peak times of the year.

Your duties will include:

  • General Greenkeeping: Carrying out daily maintenance tasks to ensure high standards across the course.
  • Machinery Operation: Confident use of tractors and diggers 5.5 ton and 13 ton for course maintenance and improvements.
  • Estate Upkeep: Practical tasks including cleaning ditches and repairing paths.
  • Irrigation: Assisting with course hydration using the water bowser.

About You:

  • We are looking for an experienced individual who is as comfortable behind the wheel of a tractor as they are with a rake or mower.
  • Experience: Proven background in greenkeeping with strong competency in operating diggers and tractors.
  • Skills: A practical, hands-on approach to estate maintenance and course infrastructure.
  • Reliability: A team player who is proactive and takes pride in a job well done.
  • Requirements: A valid driving license and relevant machinery experience are essential.

Candidate skills & qualification:

  • NVQ level 2
  • Chainsaw licence would be advantageous 
  • PA1, PA2 and PA6 not essential.
  • Good time management
  • A keen eye for detail   
  • An understanding of golf and its traditions will be advantageous.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
  • Ability to plan and schedule work to maximise efficiencies.

This is a new position and the ideal person will be one who has initiative and can always work in a calm and controlled manner.
