Founded in 1903, Walton Heath is home to two Herbert Fowler designed courses, both of which are highly rated and amongst the best in the UK. The Club has hosted many national and international events including the 1981 Ryder Cup, 2011 Senior Open and 2023 AIG Women’s Open. The Club currently has a full membership with over 900 members of all categories.
 
 

DEPUTY HEAD GREENKEEPER

We are recruiting a Deputy Head Greenkeeper who will assist the Head Greenkeeper in taking responsibility for the day-to-day Greenkeeping operations on one of the courses at Walton Heath.

Reporting to the Head Greenkeeper, the roles main responsibilities will be as follows:
 
• Leading and supervising the Greenkeeping team to implement all course maintenance tasks set out by the Head Greenkeeper.
• Carry out and supervise all operations in line with the Clubs environmental policies, Health & Safety policies and operational safe systems of work.
• Assist the Head Greenkeeper in planning, implementing and recording daily, weekly, monthly work schedules.
• Take a proactive role in developing team members.

 

The ideal candidate will:
 
• Be highly self-motivated with a positive mentality.
• Be a strong communicator.
• Have proven leadership skills.
• Have strong problem-solving ability.
• Have a good technical knowledge of turf management.
• Have knowledge of modern irrigation systems.
• Have good organisational skills.
• Proactively keep abreast of industry advances in techniques, materials and equipment through education and networking opportunities.
• Have an interest in golf.
 
 

Qualifications:

Essential
 
• NVQ Level 3 or equivalent.
• Spraying (PA1, PA2 & PA6).

 

Desirable
 
• Chainsaw (201,202,203/CS30-31).
