Give it your best shot: The BIGGA Photography Competition
Our members take incredible photographs of the golf courses they work on, reminding us how beautiful these places are and how fortunate greenkeepers are to spend their working lives in such outstanding environments.
That makes the annual BIGGA Photography Competition, sponsored by Syngenta, one of the highlights of the association year. It’s a chance to celebrate the landscapes, wildlife and working moments greenkeepers experience every day, while sharing those images with the whole BIGGA community.
How to enter
The competition is free to enter and open to BIGGA members. Each entrant can submit up to five images, with the top 12 selected for the 2027 BIGGA and Syngenta desktop calendar. Images should be the highest quality possible and landscape format is preferred. If you need help submitting images, contact [email protected].
Entries close on 30 September.
Prizes
Prizes are awarded to the three category winners and the overall winner, with the top 12 images also earning a place in the 2027 BIGGA and Syngenta desktop calendar.
Choosing the winners
Twenty-four finalists will be revealed in November and put to a public vote on BIGGA’s Facebook page and Instagram feed. Those votes will help select the top 12 images and category winners, before an overall winner is chosen.

Competition categories
Greenkeeping: Images that showcase the working lives of those who prepare courses for golfers, highlighting the hard work, skill and pride that goes into greenkeeping.
Landscape: Golf courses provide some of the most spectacular landscapes to be found anywhere. This category celebrates the natural world where greenkeepers spend their working lives.
Wildlife: Golf courses are home to spectacular wildlife. This category celebrates the animals, birds, insects and natural wonders found across our golf courses.
Tips for phone photos
- Shoot in landscape format where possible
- Make the most of golden hour, around one hour after sunrise or before sunset
- Take photos across different seasons, weather conditions and times of day
- Keep your lens clean
- Tap the screen to focus on your main subject
- Avoid heavy editing or filters
