Deputy Course Manager St Ives (Hunts) Golf Club, Cambridgeshire St Ives (Hunts) Golf Club is inviting applications for the position of Deputy Golf Course Manager.

This key role will support the Course Manager in the delivery of high-quality playing surfaces and the ongoing development of the golf course. The club has ambitions to deliver a course capable of hosting Open Qualifying, while achieving the highest standards of sustainability. The club continues to invest in revolutionary processes and equipment to support or talented people to deliver the highest quality with the minimum environmental impact.

The successful candidate will be a committed and motivated turf professional with strong technical knowledge, leadership ability, and a passion for golf course management.

You will report to the Course Manager or in his absence the General Manager. St Ives Golf Club prides itself on it’s people and as such give’s responsibility and autonomy to the team. You will need to thrive in an environment where your professional opinion matters, and you take responsibility for the performance of you and your team.

 
Key Responsibilities:
  • Assist the Golf Course Manager in the planning and implementation of all course maintenance operations
  • Deputise for the Golf Course Manager as required, including staff supervision and daily work scheduling
  • Support the presentation and conditioning of all playing surfaces in accordance with best practice
  • Ensure compliance with health & safety legislation, COSHH, and risk assessments
  • Operate, maintain, and care for all course machinery and equipment
  • Assist with staff training, development, and performance standards
  • Contribute to course improvement projects and long-term agronomic planning
Essential Requirements:
  •  NVQ Level 2 or Level 3 in Sports Turf Management (or equivalent)
  • Proven experience in a senior greenkeeping or supervisory role
  • Good working knowledge of modern turf management practices
  • Strong communication and leadership skills
  • Full UK driving licence
  • Commitment to safe working practices and environmental responsibility
 
Desirable Qualifications & Skills:
  • PA1, PA2, and PA6 spraying certificates
  • Chainsaw certification
  • Experience with course development or renovation projects
  • BIGGA membership or willingness to join
Salary & Benefits:
  • Competitive salary, commensurate with experience £35,000-£38,000
