Assistant Greenkeeper
Founded in 1898, Hessle Golf Club is a prestigious private members' club and one of the leading golf venues in the East Riding of Yorkshire. Set within 127 acres of picturesque parkland at Raywell, the club features an outstanding 18-hole course alongside excellent practice facilities, including a driving range, practice area, and two putting greens. The club has recently hosted several major events, including the England Golf Ladies Club Team Championship and the Ladies Northern Counties Finals, reflecting the high standards of its course and facilities.
About the Role
We are seeking a motivated and enthusiastic Greenkeeper to join our course maintenance team. This is an excellent opportunity for an individual who takes pride in their work, enjoys working outdoors, and is passionate about maintaining exceptional playing surfaces and presentation standards.
Working as part of a dedicated team, you will play a key role in the day-to-day maintenance, improvement, and presentation of the golf course, helping to deliver an outstanding experience for members and visitors alike.
Candidate Profile
The successful candidate will be highly motivated, reliable, and committed to maintaining the highest standards of golf course presentation, possessing:
· Previous experience in greenkeeping, sports turf maintenance, or a similar outdoor environment.
· A strong work ethic with a positive and proactive attitude.
· The ability to work independently as well as effectively within a team.
· Excellent attention to detail and pride in delivering high-quality results.
· A willingness to learn, develop new skills, and progress within the turf management industry.
· PA1, PA2 and PA6 spraying certificates (desirable but not essential).
· A full, valid driving licence.
Key Responsibilities
· Carrying out the daily maintenance of greens, tees, fairways, approaches, and rough.
· Operating a variety of modern turf maintenance machinery safely and efficiently.
· Maintaining bunkers through regular raking, edging, and renovation work.
· Assisting with aeration, topdressing, overseeding, and other turf improvement programmes.
· Supporting golf course construction, drainage, and improvement projects.
· Preparing and presenting the course to the highest possible standards.
· Ensuring all work is completed in accordance with health and safety procedures.
· Assisting with seasonal maintenance and special projects as required.
