West Sussex Golf Club – Assistant Greenkeeper

An outstanding opportunity has arisen to join one of England’s Top 20 golf courses, during a genuinely exciting period of development and growth.

Due to internal promotion and the continued expansion of our greenkeeping team, we are seeking a highly motivated Assistant Greenkeeper with a keen eye for detail and a strong desire to progress their career within the industry. This is a fantastic time to become part of a forward-thinking team as the club continues to evolve, with our centenary celebrations approaching in 2030.

Working alongside the Course Manager and Deputy, you will play a key role in maintaining and presenting the course to the exceptionally high standards expected of a Top 20 English golf club. Day-to-day duties will include routine mowing, aeration, top dressing, fertilising, course setup, bunker maintenance, and all aspects of fine turf care.

 
Salary & Package
  • £30,000 per year (depending on experience)
  • Overtime paid at time and a half

Key Responsibilities
  • Maintain and prepare the course to the highest presentation standards
  • Operate and maintain a wide range of turf care machinery
  • Assist with course renovations, bunker maintenance, aeration, fertilisation, and turf repairs
  • Adhere to all health and safety procedures
  • Weekend and bank holiday work on a rota basis
Personal Qualities & Experience
  • Strong time management and communication skills
  • A proactive, professional team player
  • Keen to continue personal development and gain further qualifications
  • Previous greenkeeping or landscaping experience desirable but not essential
  • NVQ Level 2 or above
  • Spraying certificates (PA1, PA2, PA6)
  • Chainsaw certification
