Here in Rain and Shine Alike
In all the seasons, greenkeepers remain hard at work. That makes equipping your team with the appropriate gear and facilities vital, explains Ganton Course Manager Simon Olver.
Providing the right kit and working environment for greenkeepers to cope with whatever the weather throws at them is crucial to delivering a top-quality golf course.
Just like the England football team wouldn’t dream of playing a game in mismatched, random gear, our greenkeeping team at Ganton needs a professional uniform that creates a sense of unity and identity.
When you’re working outdoors in all conditions – from scorching 30-degree summer days to freezing winter mornings – having the right equipment isn’t just a luxury, it’s essential.
The standards a club sets in kit provision directly reflect in the quality of work produced. If you’re asking your team to maintain pristine playing surfaces while providing them with leaky boots and inadequate clothing, you’re setting yourself up for failure.
We provide our team with summer and winter uniforms, as well as facilities that offer a level of comfort that enables them to work through even the most challenging conditions. We invest in high-quality, season-appropriate gear – from Bluetooth ear defenders to safety trainers and sun cream – because we understand that comfortable staff are productive staff.
Greenkeepers are a different breed. We’re out with the owls at dawn, working through rain, shine and everything in between. But even we need motivation.
By providing a supportive environment with drying rooms, fresh fruit, tea and coffee and a well-stocked fridge, we create a team that’s genuinely excited to tackle whatever weather comes our way.
Ultimately, investing in your greenkeeping team means investing in your golf course.
