An exciting opportunity has become available for a Senior Greenkeeper to join our team.
 
Due to career progression, Blackwell Golf Club is looking to recruit an experienced and motivated Senior Greenkeeper to work alongside the Head Greenkeeper and Deputy Head Greenkeeper to fulfill and important role in maintaining and continually improving our golf course, while supporting the wider greenkeeping team in delivering consistently high standards throughout the year.
 
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced greenkeeper with sound technical knowledge, a positive attitude and a passion for producing exceptional playing surfaces.
 
About Blackwell Golf Club
Founded in 1893, Blackwell Golf Club is a private members club that respects the traditions of the game and is renowned for its hospitality and welcoming environment. The par 70, 6244 yard course was designed by Fowler & Simpson and is consistently regarded as one of England’s finest, ranking within the Top 100 courses in the country and Worcestershire’s number one.
 
The club is currently working to deliver a course masterplan which has been developed in partnership with Frank Pont of CDP and includes an ambitious Woodland management plan created by John Nicholson. The Club also works alongside Alistair Beggs and the R&A Sustainable Agronomy team.
 
Recent years have seen significant investment in the golf course, machinery fleet and wider facilities, resulting in excellent playing conditions and an exciting platform for continued development.
 
The Role
Reporting to the Head Greenkeeper, you will be responsible for carrying out and supporting the day-to-day maintenance of the golf course and wider estate to the highest possible standards.
 
Key responsibilities include:
  • Delivering all aspects of golf course maintenance to a consistently high standard
  • Supporting the Head Greenkeeper and Deputy Head Greenkeeper in the daily operation of the department
  • Assisting the Head Greenkeeper in the absence of the Deputy regarding organisation of daily work schedules and helping to guide other members of the team where appropriate
  • Operating and maintaining our fleet of golf course machinery
  • Assisting with irrigation management, course set-up and improvement projects
  • Contributing to the implementation of agronomic programs and course development initiatives
  • Ensuring all work is carried out safely and in accordance with club policies and industry best practice
  • A flexible approach to work as early starts and weekend work are required
The successful candidate will ideally have:
  • Several years' experience working within a golf course maintenance environment
  • Strong practical knowledge of modern greenkeeping and turf management practices
  • Self-motivated, capable of working independently and within a small team
  • Flexible.
  • Organised, with a great attention to detail
  • Good communication and organisational skills
  • NVQ Level 2 in Sports Turf Management (or equivalent)
  • PA1, PA2 and PA6 certificates (desirable)
  • Valid chainsaw operating license (desirable) 
  • A full UK driving license
