Hogs Haven Golf Club is pleased to announce the advertisement of various positions within its already impressive Agronomy Team, supporting all stages of a new golf course’s construction, grow-in, and subsequent maintenance. This world-class golf development is located just two miles south of the Home of Golf. The development is well advanced, with our agronomy teams focused on phase 1 grow-in works and phase 2 construction operations. Along with a state-of-the-art new golf course agronomy facility, the golf course will open for play in Spring 2027, timed to coincide with the return of The Open Championship at the Old Course.

The new St Andrews development will provide members, non-members and staff with a variety of world-class amenities, including:

  • The restoration of the original farmhouse building to create a unique halfway house dining experience
David Cole, Director of Agronomy, and Michael Hughes, Course Manager, are eager to expand the current Agronomy Team and continue to collaborate closely with the golf course contractors throughout the construction, grow-in, and long-term maintenance phases of the golf courses and grounds.
 
Mechanic
Reporting to the Equipment Manager, the Mechanic will be responsible for supporting all aspects of equipment maintenance throughout the construction, grow-in, and long-term operation of Hogs Haven’s golf courses and grounds.
 
This will include the following:
  • Assisting in maintaining a safe working environment
  • Inspecting equipment for operating deficiencies, repairing and adjusting equipment as needed
  • Follow guidance from the Equipment Manager in establishing safety procedures and maintaining safety records for equipment operations
  • Performing grinding and sharpening methods to ensure all cutting units are sharp daily
  • The safe and environmentally sound use of storage and disposal of hazardous materials (fuel, grease, solvents, etc.)
  • Assist in maintaining service, repair and usage records on all equipment
  • Performing annual general overhauls for equipment with direction from the Equipment Manager
  • Assisting in maintaining accurate records pertaining to invoices, inventory, equipment repairs, and preventive maintenance programs
  • Demonstrating to staff the use of all machinery, and train in safe operation and proper care and maintenance of assigned equipment
  • Deputising in the absence of the Equipment Manager
  • Being aligned with the philosophies of the Senior Management Agronomy Team and maintain good communications
Experience Required:
  • Previous experience in a mechanical role
  • Knowledge of electrical & hydraulic systems preferred
  • Experienced in use of reel & bed-knife grinding equipment
  • Welding/fabrication experience preferred
  • Good IT skills
