An excellent opportunity has arisen for an ambitious individual to gain experience and have an input in the development process at Haste Hill Golf Club.

DBB Sports Ltd is looking to recruit a Deputy Head Greenkeeper for a golf course located in West London north of Heathrow. The course is being taken over by new management and as a result the greenkeeping department is currently undergoing transitional development to improve standards and tools for our greenkeeping team to carry out their duties.
 

We are looking for an enthusiastic Deputy Head Greenkeeper to assist with all aspects of golf course maintenance.

Job Summary
The candidate should be experienced in using a wide range of sports turf machinery as well as having an a good understanding of course presentation. Previous experience working on a golf course or in a similar position is therefore essential. The department aims to be forward thinking and efficient, while striving to provide a great golfing experience for our members and visitors.
 
We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Deputy Head Greenkeeper to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for maintaining the beauty and health of our grounds, ensuring that all landscaping and turf areas are kept in pristine condition. This role requires a combination of physical labour, attention to detail, and a passion for horticulture.
 
Duties
  • Perform groundskeeping tasks including mowing, trimming, and edging lawns
  • Maintain landscape features such as flower beds, shrubs, and trees through regular watering, weeding, and mulching
  • Operate and maintain various hand tools and power tools necessary for landscaping tasks
  • Irrigate and manage water systems to ensure optimal growth of plants and turf
  • Dig and prepare soil for planting new flora as required
  • Monitor the health of plants and grass, identifying any pests or diseases that may require intervention
  • Assist in the construction of new garden features or enhancements as needed
  • Collaborate with other team members to ensure all areas are maintained to the highest standards
Skills
  • Previous team leader/first assistant experience
  • A full driving licence
  • Proficient in groundskeeping techniques with a strong understanding of landscape maintenance
  • Experience using hand tools and power tools safely and effectively
  • Mechanical knowledge to perform routine maintenance on equipment used in landscaping tasks
  • Ability to irrigate effectively while understanding water conservation practices
  • Strong physical stamina to perform manual labour tasks such as digging and lifting
  • Attention to detail with a keen eye for maintaining aesthetic quality in garden spaces
  • A passion for gardening and an eagerness to learn about plant care and landscape design
