About Cumberwell Park Golf Club
Founded in 1994, Cumberwell Park is a friendly family run business located in the beautiful Wiltshire countryside, just 15 minutes from Bath. The course consists of 54 holes, driving range and short game area.
 
The Role
The Course Projects Assistant performs a selection of the tasks listed below once full training has been given. Some general course maintenance will be required alongside the projects work.
  • Maintain the golf courses and other grounds as directed by the Course Manager and Deputy Course Manager to the required standard laid down in the relevant job cards
    • This will include some general course maintenance such as mowing, aeration, fertiliser application, spraying, divoting, bunker maintenance, top-dressing, changing holes and moving tee-markers
  • Drive a tractor to conduct operations such as gravel banding and transporting with a trailer
  • Operate an excavator to a competent level to carry out construction projects
  • Assist in the installation, troubleshooting and maintenance of the course irrigation system
  • Carry out construction projects involving the renovation of bunkers, paths, teeing areas and drainage
  • Involved with construction projects on new golf course constructions
  • Transport personnel, materials and equipment using buggies and turf trucks
  • Keep the greenkeepers’ shed tidy and safe. Cleaned equipment must always be returned to its home shed
  • Respond to emergencies, including fire and chemical spillages using emergency equipment (eg fire extinguishers) and calling for assistance   
  • The responsibility to report course issues such as disease in greens, water issues or health & safety issues
  • Carry out any other tasks as directed by the Course Manager or any other member of the management board
The Candidate
The business is seeking to employ a Course Projects Assistant to assist with the maintenance and improvement of the golf course infrastructure with the following attributes:
  • Experience in the use of sportsturf, construction machinery and irrigation systems
  • Be highly self-motivated
  • Have a strong and flexible work ethic
  • Can work well within a team
  • Good communication skills
  • Possess good attention to detail
  • The ability to produce and maintain high standards of work on the golf course
  • Be able to produce references from previous employers on request
 Application information
  • Salary £33,500 - £35,500 depending on experience
  • 40 hour week to include weekend work on a rota basis
