An exciting opportunity has arisen at this Top 100 Course a passionate and driven individual to join our Greenkeeping team as an Assistant Greenkeeper.

Broadstone Golf Club is focused on continuing to elevate the condition and presentation of our playing surfaces through a sustainable approach, led by our Course Manager and supported by our agronomist from the R&A. The Club continues to invest in the golf course, machinery, infrastructure and the development of its team.

The position provides an excellent opportunity for an individual who is keen to develop their career within the greenkeeping industry. The Club will support the successful candidate on their educational pathway, providing training and development opportunities to help them progress.

Reports to: Course Manager

Responsible for: Golf course maintenance and presentation

Role Objective: To constantly strive to improve the golfing experience for our members and visitors by displaying our core values here at Broadstone – Sustainability, Integrity, Passion & Community.

Responsibilities:

  • Carry out all aspects of golf course maintenance to a consistently high standard.
  • Assist with the preparation and presentation of greens, tees, approaches, fairways, bunkers and other playing surfaces.
  • Operate and maintain a wide range of modern turfcare machinery.
  • Assist with aeration, overseeding, topdressing, nutrition and turf health programmes.
  • Contribute to the ongoing improvement and presentation of the golf course.
  • Work effectively as part of the Greenkeeping team and demonstrate pride in the standard of work produced.
  • Assist with tournament and competition preparation.
  • Follow all Health & Safety procedures and safe working practices.
  • Support the Club’s commitment to sustainable golf course management and the conservation of its heathland environment.
  • For the irrigation-focused position, responsibilities will also develop to include the operation, maintenance, fault finding and continued improvement of the golf course irrigation system.

Our Ideal Candidate:

  • Previous greenkeeping or sports turf experience.
  • Hold, or be working towards, relevant Sports Turf Management qualifications.
  • A strong work ethic and pride in producing high-quality work.
  • Enthusiastic, reliable and able to work effectively within a team.
  • A genuine desire to develop knowledge and progress within the industry.
  • Experience operating turfcare machinery.
  • Spraying certificates PA1, PA2 and PA6a would be advantageous, although training can be provided.
  • Tournament or high-level golf course preparation experience would be advantageous.
  • Possess a growth mindset.
  • Previous irrigation experience would be extremely desirable, particularly experience with golf course irrigation systems, fault diagnosis, repairs and ongoing system maintenance.
