Isle of Purbeck Golf Club – Dorset
Isle of Purbeck Golf Club, a proprietary club founded in 1892 and ranked within the Top 100 courses in England, is seeking an experienced Head Greenkeeper to lead the maintenance and development of its unique heathland facility.
The par 70, 6,295-yard course is set within an SSSI-designated landscape and is entering an exciting period of change. Working with Tim Lobb, Principal Architect, the Club is working towards a six-year Course Master Plan focused on restoring the course to its heathland origins. This includes a new irrigation system, new tees and bunkers, enlarged greens, and extensive heathland reinstatement.
The role also includes responsibility for a 9-hole course, maintained daily and forming part of the overall improvement programme. A site visit is strongly encouraged.

Overall responsibility for the presentation and performance of both courses

Leadership, training, and development of the greenkeeping team

Delivery of the Course Master Plan in line with the Club’s long-term vision
-
Management of budgets, resources, and Health & Safety compliance
-
NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) in Greenkeeping / Sports Turf Management

PA1, PA2 & PA6 spraying certificates

Minimum 2–3 years’ experience in a senior role (Head Greenkeeper, Deputy Course Manager or similar)

Strong knowledge of modern turf management practices

Experience operating modern machinery (John Deere / Toro)

Irrigation system management experience

Proven leadership and communication skills

Financial awareness and IT competence

Full, clean UK driving licence
-
CS30/31 and heathland restoration knowledge desirable
