Full-Time Position
Ormskirk Golf Club is seeking a skilled and motivated Greenkeeper/Mechanic to join our dedicated Course Team. This is an excellent opportunity to work at one of the region’s most respected clubs, known for its high presentation standards, exceptional playing surfaces, and proud championship history.
We are looking for an individual who can combine strong greenkeeping knowledge with the technical ability to maintain and repair our machinery fleet. The successful candidate will play a key role in delivering excellent course conditions year-round and ensuring our equipment is safe, efficient, and well-maintained.
Key Responsibilities
Greenkeeping Duties:

Daily course setup to a high championship standard

Mowing greens, tees, approaches, fairways and rough

Bunker maintenance including edging and sand presentation

Turf repair, divoting, overseeding and fertility applications

Irrigation use, minor repairs, and moisture management

Winter maintenance including drainage, construction works and project support

Maintaining high standards of course presentation at all times
Mechanical / Workshop Duties:

Routine servicing, sharpening, and maintenance of all machinery and cutting units

Diagnosing and repairing mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical faults

Keeping machinery safe, compliant, and operational

Managing workshop records, servicing schedules and parts ordering

Ensuring all equipment is cleaned, greased, and in good working order daily

Supporting the team with operator training on machinery care
Skills & Experience Required:
- Previous experience as a greenkeeper (minimum 2 years preferred)
- Strong mechanical skills with experience in maintaining turf machinery
- Knowledge of hydraulic, electrical and diesel engine systems
- Ability to grind and set cutting units accurately
- NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Sports Turf (desirable)
- Relevant mechanical qualification (desirable but not essential)
- PA1/PA2/PA6 spraying certificates (advantageous)
- Strong work ethic with a proactive, can-do attitude
- Ability to work early mornings, weekends and as part of a flexible team
- Commitment to maintaining the club’s high standards of presentation
