The Royal Burgess Golfing Society, founded in 1735, is the oldest golfing society in the world and one of only 10 “Royal” golf clubs in Scotland. While primarily a Member’s club with a rich tradition, visitors and guests are made to feel very welcome. Located on the outskirts of Edinburgh, the course is maintained by loyal and dedicated Greenkeeping Team and is recognised as one of the best parkland courses in the country.
A vacancy has now arisen for a Qualified Golf Course Mechanic / Greenkeeper to join its team to help maintain the highest standards and presentation of this outstanding 18 golf course. The position is offered on a 40 hour week, plus weekend work which is worked on a rota basis. Flexibility will be essential, particularly over the summer months and leading up to and during major tournaments.

Perform routine diagnosis and dependable repairs on golf course machinery and equipment in a timely and efficient manner

Conduct regular inspections of tools and machinery to identify maintenance needs

Use knowledge of grinding techniques and sharpening equipment to ensure optimum cutting results from bladed machinery

Maintain accurate records of repairs, maintenance activities and operational efficiencies

Repair and fabricate items using various welding types (Mig,Tig, Etc)

Ensure compliance with Health & Safety regulations and operational protocols throughout the workshop and course

Knowledge of a Full Jacobsen Machinery Fleet and battery powered equipment
These tasks are not exhaustive and from time to time there may be duties asked of you around the business that are not contained in this Job Description.
- Proven Experience as a qualified Mechanic, preferably in a golf or similar agricultural role
- Strong knowledge of turf management practices and equipment operation
- Demonstrate ability to troubleshoot and repair mechanical issues on various machinery
- Good working knowledge of hydraulic, pneumatic and electrical systems and how to manage and repair
- Be able to manage the parts and order materials as required
- Excellent problem solving skills and attention to detail
- Ability to work independently and as part of a Team in a fast paced environment
- Effective communication skills and a positive attitude
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, Turfkeeper & Machinekeeper
- Valid Driver’s Licence
