First Assistant Greenkeeper - Leek Golf Club
Location: Leek, Staffordshire
Salary: £28,000 – £31,000 per annum (dependent on experience)
Summer hours: 45 hours per week
Winter hours: 35 hours per week
Leek Golf Club, is looking to recruit a First Assistant Greenkeeper to join our existing dedicated team. This is a great opportunity for a qualified greenkeeper who is looking to advance their career.
Leek Golf Club is a well-established and picturesque members' club nestled in the heart of the Staffordshire Moorlands, and is seeking a dedicated and experienced First Assistant Greenkeeper to join our dynamic greens team.
This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a progressive club that takes pride in delivering high-quality playing surfaces and continually investing in its course, facilities, and staff development.
Key Responsibilities:

Support the Head Greenkeeper in daily operations and course maintenance.

Carry out all aspects of turf maintenance including mowing, aeration, irrigation, top-dressing, and course setup.

Operate a range of modern turf care machinery safely and efficiently.

Assist in planning and implementing course improvement projects.

Ensure health and safety procedures are always followed.
The Ideal Candidate:
-
Minimum NVQ Level 2 in Sports Turf Management (or equivalent)

PA1, PA2, and PA6 spraying certificates (desirable)

CS30/31Chainsaw license (desirable)

Proven experience in a greenkeeping role, preferably with some supervisory responsibilities

Strong work ethic with a keen eye for detail and a passion for course presentation

Excellent communication and team leadership skills

Flexible and willing to work early mornings and weekends as required
