BIGGA London Section and Oaklands College are hosting the 2023 Greenkeeping Seminar on Tuesday 14th February, 9.30am – 2.50pm.

Venue: Oaklands College - St Albans Campus, Hatfield Road St Albans AL4 0JA.

Seminar Programme

9.30 - 10.15am:  Arrival and networking opportunity with tea and coffee.

10.15am - 10.30am: Opening and introductions.

10.30am - 11.15am:  2022-A Diary Of A Year. This will be an informative presentation from our industries leading meteorological expert and enthusiast.

Mark Hunt has worked for over 35 years in the amenity market within the areas of product development and agronomic support. His main area of interest is dovetailing the effect of our changing climate on agronomic processes such as disease development, grass growth and plant nutrition.

 

11.15am - 12.00pm: Karl Standley – Grounds Manager Wembley National Stadium –“Managing our National Stadium”. A fascinating insight into the day to day running of one of the world’s best multi use stadiums. 

12.00pm - 12.50pm: Lunch.

1.00pm – 1.45pm: Consultant and Greenkeeper. In a podcast type format this will be an interview style presentation with two top Course Managers and a Golf Club Consultant

"We are an 18-hole heathland course. We had a demonstration of some autonomous mowers in October 2024. Although we haven't committed to purchase yet, it's an avenue we will be exploring in the next 12-18 months."

 1.45pm - 2.30pm: Transforming Your Team. Frank Newberry will be delivering an inspiring and energising presentation, dealing with topics such as Motivation, Teamwork, and Mental Wellbeing

Golf Sector Trainer

Frank trains and coaches people at all levels in the golf sector. His areas of interest and expertise are personal productivity, communication and management success. His clients include a number of Top 100 golf venues including St Andrews Links, The Grove and The Wisley. He also works with various organisations on subjects including sales and presentations training, clients include - BASIS Registrations, the STRI, Aquatrols, Bernhard and Company, ICL Speciality Fertilizers and Rain Bird. His clients also include many membership organisations in the UK and in Europe including the GCMA, England Golf, the PGA, AELTC Wimbledon and a number of greenkeeper membership organisations in Europe, including FEGGA.

 

2.30 – 2.50pm: Acknowledgements and close.

Relevant attendees will earn 4 BIGGA CPD credits (also 4 BASIS points will be awarded)

Fee includes tea/coffee, lunch, and onsite parking.

Cost: £15.00 (inc. VAT) which must be paid in advance and includes lunch, refreshments and onsite parking.
