Golf Course Workshop Mechanic

We are seeking an enthusiastic, dedicated and professional individual to join our Course & Grounds Department team, which is committed to consistently delivering service excellence. The role will include preventative maintenance, servicing and repair to an extensive fleet of golf, grounds and gardens equipment.

Inspects, diagnoses and repairs mechanical defects/failures in the fleet of maintenance equipment, including, diesel, electric- and gasoline-powered automobiles, mowers, tractors, rollers and other mechanical equipment used in utility work

Instructs and/or trains golf course maintenance workers regarding preventive maintenance, and the proper cleaning of and safe operation of equipment

Keeps records for equipment and parts inventory purchases and completed works

Maintain cylinder and rotary blade machines to provide optimum cutting year-round. Be conversant with grinding techniques and sharpening equipment

Be able to weld, in the various forms (MIG & TIG) to repair and fabricate items

Complies with all legislation and regulations including provisions contained in the Health & Safety at Work Act 1974 and relevant regulations for the various workshop equipment currently in use

Ability to comprehend engine systems and maintain and make repairs as required

Good working knowledge of hydraulic, pneumatic and electrical systems and how to manage and repair

Be able to liaise with the various key people involved with the management of the key sports to prioritize the workload to maintain operational readiness

Keen attention to detail, be able to maintain a workshop and Work with machinery monitoring system to schedule maintenance events and maintain detailed maintenance records

Be able to manage the parts and service budget and order materials as required

Ability to work as part of a team and on own initiative

Ability to delegate, inspire and communicate effectively

Adept at communicating with colleagues and clients
- Excellent timekeeping and reliability
- Has the critical thinking skills to analyse problems thoroughly and accurately; takes a structured approach to identifying appropriate solutions
- Qualified Mechanic
- Electro-hydraulic experience is an advantage
- Proficient use of operating reel and bed knife grinders
- Previous experience in a similar role dealing with golf course equipment, agricultural equipment or plant
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel and use of IT systems
