Redditch Golf Club was founded in 1913. The course is acclaimed as one of the finest in Worcestershire and was designed by Frank Pennick, one of the top amateur players in Britain. The part parkland, part woodland course is well known for both its topography and the quality of its playing surfaces. The greens are particularly outstanding after being re-laid during 1995/96 under the direction of the Sports Turf Research Institute (STRI) to USGA specifications.

We are recruiting a motivated, enthusiastic Course Manager to lead and inspire our passionate Greenkeeping team. Responsibilities will include maintenance, care, improvement, and management of our golf course whilst ensuring it offers a challenging but enjoyable experience for our members and guests of all abilities.

Role to include

Greens/ Golf Course Management

  • Ability to successfully manage a budget including financial expenditure will be a key part of the role.
  • Be able to confidentially manage all aspects of Health and Safety relating to the golf course and green staff.
  • Competence in turf disease identification and prevention techniques.
  • You will be responsible for closely managing resources daily, ensuring a strong work ethic, attention to detail, integrity, good time management and pride in work is always upheld.
  •  Maintain surfaces to a continuously high standard.
  • Strong knowledge in using irrigation systems.

Team Management

  • Assist with future recruitment, training, and the appraisal of staff.
  • As a strong communicator and leader, you must in addition, be seen to carry out physical greenkeeping duties.
  • Excellent staff management and motivational skills to continuously develop your team.
  • Continuous communication will be expected to be given to our members regarding the maintenance programmes, course progress and upcoming plans on the course.

Attributes and Experience

The successful candidate will be well organised professional, reliable and with a positive but flexible approach towards the work carried out. Will also have an ambitious approach towards developing their own career within the golf industry.

  • Certification in PA1, PA2 and PA6 are essential.
  • Chainsaw license is preferred. 
  • Competence in the use and maintenance of a wide range or Toro machinery.
  • The liaison and relationships with third party contractors and suppliers is desirable.
  • You will currently hold a Head Greenkeeper or Deputy role at a recognised golf club.
