Job Title: Deputy Course Manager
 
Salary: A competitive remuneration and benefits package which is dependent on skills and experience but commensurate with the position and stature of the club and in line with BIGGA CGCS recommendations.
 
Reporting Directly to: Course Manager
 
Job Type: Full Time, 40 hours per week Monday to Friday, plus contractual overtime on a weekend rota basis and in line with the needs of the business. Weekend work is paid at enhanced rates.
 
 

Lymm Golf Club is a highly regarded and well-maintained golf course in the Northwest of England. In addition to a full diary of member events and competitions, the club often hosts county events on behalf of the Cheshire Union of Golf Clubs. We are committed to providing our members and guests with an outstanding golfing experience. To continue delivering this experience we are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Deputy Course Manager to join our team.

 
Key Responsibilities:
  • Assist the Course Manager in planning, supervising and executing all aspects of golf course maintenance.
  • Oversee the maintenance and operation of modern greenkeeping equipment.
  • Lead the team in the Course Managers absence.
Desired Qualifications and skills:
  • Level 3 NVQ in Sports Turf Management or relevant equivalent, or a level 2 NVQ and working towards level 3.
  • PA 1,2 and 6 spraying certificates.
  • Chainsaw certificates desirable.
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience within the industry.
  • Strong organisational and problem-solving abilities.
  • A proactive and positive attitude towards work/
  • rds work.

What we are looking for:

As Deputy Course Manager you will support the Course Manager in managing Lymm Golf Club golf course and our dedicated greenkeeping team.
 
You will have a well-developed attention to detail, with the ability to plan, prepare and execute golf course maintenance. With a thorough knowledge of all aspects of greenkeeping and agronomy including irrigation, you will help ensure the golf course is constantly maintained to the highest standards.
 
You will establish and maintain effective working relationships with managers and colleagues, attend department meetings, maintain Health and Safety working practices and help coach our great team to help them flourish within Lymm golf club.
 
You will undertake essential surveys to record data on the golf course environment, monitoring its condition and promoting good environmental practices. As needed you will support renovation projects and oversee the maintenance of our irrigation system.
 
 
 
What you will need:
  • NVQ Level 3 in Sports Turf management.
  • Familiar with the operating and setting up grass machinery.
  • Chainsaw qualifications (desirable).
  • Spraying certificates PA1, PA2 and PA6.
  • CS30/3 chainsaw certificate.
  • First Aid at Work qualified (desirable, but can be provided)
  • Ability to delegate and give instructions to other members of staff
  • Must have a passion for greenkeeping with great attention to detail
  • Reliable and punctual
  • Smart personal presentation and polite manner
  • Team player
  • Must have minimum 5 years’ experience in greenkeeping
  • Excellent communicator
  • A pro-active, ‘can-do’ ‘will-do’ attitude and approach.
  • Full U.K.Driving licence.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deputise in the absence of the Course Manager.
  • Deliver daily briefings and allocation of work to the team.
  • Oversee the daily set up of the golf course to the required standard.
  • Perform all golf course checks.
  • Assist with the weekly planning: cutting schedules, bunker maintenance, hole changing, stock check, i.e., flags, flagpoles, bins, ball washers and towels and general course maintenance.
  • Assist the Course Manager in supervising any work programmes in place and help maintain spraying and chemical records.
  • Assist with the implementation of all aspects of Health & Safety.
  • To attend any meetings in the absence of the Course manager.
  • To be actively involved in all budgeting and ordering with the department
  • To assist with return-to-work interviews, disciplinary issues and general staff welfare.
  • To assist in the recruitment, induction, training, development and management of the greenkeeping department.
  • N.B. these are the key responsibilities and core skills required. This list of duties is not exhaustive, and all employees may be required to perform duties outside their normal responsibilities from time to time.
