Founded in 1903, Walton Heath is home to two Herbert Fowler designed courses, both of which are highly rated and amongst the best in the UK. The Club has hosted many national and international events including the 1981 Ryder Cup, 2011 Senior Open and, most recently, the 2023 AIG Women’s Open. The Club currently has a full membership with over 900 members of all categories.

Construction & Projects Supervisor

Following the successful development of our current incumbent, and due to further planned course improvements being phased over several years, WHGC is looking to appoint a full-time Construction & Projects Supervisor.

The ideal applicant will have:

  • 5 years’ Greenkeeping experience.
  • A positive attitude
  • An interest in golf.

Qualification

  • NVQ Level 2 Sports Turf or equivalent.
  • Relevant competence-based certification for use of excavator, dumper and tele-handler is desirable.
  • Consideration will be given to applicants who have some experience in the use of excavator, dumper, and tele-hander. Full training to achieve competency certification will be provided if necessary.

Reporting to the Course Manager, the roles main responsibilities will be as follows:

  • Take a lead role on in-house construction projects including tee & bunker refurbishment/construction, heather regeneration scraping work, drainage, and general earthworks on both courses.
  • Carry out all operations in line with the Clubs environmental policies, Health & Safety policies, and operational safe systems of work.
  • Develop staff to deliver in house construction projects efficiently.
  • Organise and manage on-site soil/compost storage site. Develop a rotational topsoil screening and stockpiling program.
  • Monitor stock levels and re-ordering of all construction materials.
  • Oversee construction contractors whilst on site.
  • Periodic general Greenkeeping duties.
