The Amenity Forum has organised free updating events over the coming months to address issues and changes relating to weed, pest and disease control, and BIGGA is due to host a couple over the coming weeks.

BIGGA House, near York, will host an updating event on Tuesday 27 March, while another event is due to take place at Cold Ashby Golf Club in the Midlands on Thursday 29 March.

The Amenity Forum is the voluntary initiative for the sector, promoting best practice in all aspects of weed, pest and disease control.

The updating events will address topical issues of interest and relevance to all involved in the amenity sector and will comprise short presentations by speakers.

Speakers will be drawn from the Chemical Regulation Division of HSE, BASIS Registration, the National Sprayer Testing Service, STRI, various hosts, and the Amenity Forum itself.

Events occupy half a day and Amenity Forum chairman, Professor John Moverley, said: "The Amenity Forum is the national voluntary initiative seeking to promote best practice in our sector. It is important that our industry can demonstrate its ability to regulate itself and ensure the highest standards. We have made substantial progress, but more remains to be done and it is vital that everyone involved in this important sector is fully up to date with changes and implications.

"That is why we are promoting these free updating events and we hope as many as possible will be able to attend."
