Last month we revealed the launch of our first ever BIGGA Virtual National Championship and we’re excited to reveal more details about the event.
You can play at any course of your choosing, meaning BIGGA members all over the globe can get involved and compete against each other – without having to book any time off work or worry about accommodation or travel costs!
A socially‑distanced event, this is all about letting your hair down and having a bit of fun and all for a good cause.
BIGGA members of all golfing abilities are encouraged to get involved and we’re looking forward to seeing what you get up to on social media!
Play with your friends, your colleagues, your family or even meet up with other BIGGA members at a local course – it’s up to you! Just make sure there’s someone there to verify your card at the end of your round.
As with the regular BIGGA National Championship, there will be a prize for the best scratch score over 36 holes.
But we want everyone to be involved with this fun event, so there will also be a nett competition and separate categories with prizes for first‑ and second‑day scores.
There’ll even be a longest drive and nearest the pin competition!
The nature of the event means it’s a fantastic opportunity for our international members to get involved. Sign up, keep in contact via social media and submit your scores ahead of the deadline and we’ll make sure your scores are counted alongside everyone else’s!
First rounds must be completed the week commencing 28 September, with round two to be played on Monday 7 October. We’ll live stream a presentation ceremony that evening.
The event costs £25 to get involved, significantly cheaper than the usual BIGGA National entry fee. Of that amount, £10 will be donated directly to the Greenkeepers Benevolent Fund, helping to support fellow BIGGA members who encounter hard times. The remaining £15 will go towards administration and prizes.
Registration opening soon!
BIGGA has teamed up with Golf Genius to enable members to take part in the event wherever in the world they may be. You can post scores, view a live leaderboard, share images from the day and enjoy a truly interactive digital experience. Stay tuned to BIGGA’s website and social media platforms for more information.
