We have two excellent opportunities for full time, permanent Greenkeepers (trainee or Qualified) to join our well-established team who are responsible for maintaining and enhancing the condition of the golf course. Ilkley Golf Club is one of the oldest clubs in Yorkshire. The parkland course is set in the Wharfe valley with the famous Ilkley Moor as a backdrop. We are currently working with Golf Course Architects Mackenzie and Ebert to enhance its modern day appeal whilst retaining its architectural heritage. We also work closely with the STRI and Bob Taylor, who advises on ecology and tree management.

The roles would suit enthusiastic, proactive individuals, with a keen eye for detail, looking for the opportunity to learn new skills as part of an experienced team in an enjoyable working environment. Trainee greenkeepers will have the opportunity to undertake their Level 2 NVQ in Greenkeeping.

The successful candidate will require:

  • A willingness to learn and work to high standards of greenkeeping
  • Have knowledge of and commitment to compliance with Health & Safety
  • Flexible approach to working hours and weekend duties
  • The ability to work unsupervised and as part of a team
  • Good communication skills
  • A full UK driving licence

In addition to the above, applicants for the position of Qualified Greenkeeper will require:

  • A minimum of NVQ Level 2 or equivalent in sports turf maintenance (Qualified Greenkeeper only)
  • Pa1, Pa2, Pa6 preferred (Qualified Greenkeeper only)

It would be an advantage but not essential to have:

  • Previous golf course experience
  • Spraying and chainsaw licence
  • Current First Aid Certificate
  • Good understanding of golf, the Rules of the game and golfer requirements
