Job Title: Head Greenkeeper
Location: Wirral Golf Club, Merseyside
Contract Type: Full-Time, Permanent, Annualised Hours
Salary: Competitive, based on experience
Wirral Golf Club is a private members’ club with a proud heritage, established in 1894 and situated in the heart of the Wirral Peninsula.
We are now seeking a passionate, experienced, and driven Head Greenkeeper to lead our dedicated greenkeeping team and continue to develop and maintain our beautiful 18-hole heathland course to the highest standards.
Key Responsibilities:

Lead and manage the day-to-day operations of the greenkeeping team

Prepare and maintain the course to a consistently high standard for both social and competitive play

Develop and implement seasonal and long-term maintenance plans
-
Manage budgets, procurement, and machinery maintenance schedules
-
Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations
-
Work closely with the Business Manager and Greens Committee on course development projects and improvements

Motivate and mentor staff, encouraging training and development
Candidate Requirements:
-
Minimum Level 3 qualification in Sports Turf Management (or equivalent)

Proven experience in a Head or Deputy Greenkeeper role

Strong leadership and communication skills

Excellent knowledge of agronomy, machinery, irrigation, and course presentation techniques

PA1, PA2, and PA6 spraying certificates (essential)

Chainsaw and other machinery certificates (desirable)

A passion for the game of golf and understanding of golfer expectations
