Due to retirement, an exciting opportunity has arisen for a Head Greenkeeper position at The Ludlow Golf Club, Shropshire, England.
The club was founded in 1889 and had input in the layout from the legendary designer James Braid. The course is a reasonably level, heathland style layout based on a sand & gravel base so is free draining and playable all year round. Set in the surrounds of Ludlow Racecourse and the beautiful Shropshire hills the 6277 yard course plays host to many county organised events. We have recently engaged renowned golf course architect Jonathan Gaunt of Gaunt Golf Design who has provided a comprehensive plan for the upgrading of the course and practice facilities which we will be looking to implement over the next few years.
We are looking to recruit a dynamic individual who has the drive and passion to reach standards of excellence in the management and presentation of our 18-hole course and practice facilities including 300 yard+ practice field, putting and chipping greens around the clubhouse, practice nets and small driving range.
Reporting to and working with the General Manager, the successful candidate will be able to demonstrate high levels of management, communication and leadership skills and will hold relevant green keeping and/or agronomy qualifications.
You will be highly motivated and capable of inspiring the greenkeeping team.
The course is laid out on leased land from the Earl of Plymouth Estates and is within the confines of Ludlow Racecourse, so it is important that excellent communicative relationships are formed with each body.

- Spaying certificates PA1, PA2 and PA6
- A good working knowledge of irrigation systems including repair and maintenance.
- A good working knowledge of machinery operations and maintenance

The successful candidate must demonstrate a professional and modern approach to sustainable greenkeeping working alongside our STRI advisors. Salary will be competitive, and negotiable based on experience and qualifications. The golf club is very committed to coaching and developing staff, and the candidate would be involved in creating a developmental training program.
