Ransomes Jacobsen Ltd are recruiting a Greenkeeper who will develop and run the the maintenance programmes for our golf course and five-a-side football pitch, ensuring they are kept to a high standard of presentation for site visitors from around the world. This position is bsed in Ipswich, Suffolk.

Reporting to the Product Trainer, your roles and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Maintaining the playing surfaces to a high standard of play and presentation
  • Maintaining the rough and bio-diverse areas to an environmental standard
  • Managing the irrigation system effectively and recording all water usage
  • Establishing and maintaining a pesticide and fertilizer program to complement the playing surface
  • Identifying and controlling pests and diseases
  • Adapting the programs to suit local weather conditions and rainfall
  • Operate the course machinery to the standards set out in the operator’s instruction book
  • Cleaning, preparing, and storing each piece of equipment after use in line with the manufacturers recommendation to maintain its quality and precision
  • Setting and adjusting the course machinery as per the operator’s instruction book and performing basic maintenance on the same machinery
  • Pruning trees, trimming hedges and cutting back shrubs as required
  • Assisting in the set-up of customer visits, demonstrations and product training as required
  • General site maintenance, including plant beds and general duties associated with the site
  • Undertaking any other reasonable tasks required by the Company

 Minimum Qualifications/Experience/Skills required:

  • Minimum of four GCSEs (including Maths and English)
  • IT literate
  • You should hold an NVQ Level 2 in Amenity Horticulture (Sports Turf), with ambitions to continue studying to achieve NVQ Level 3 in this field (supported by the Company)
  • At least one years’ experience in a sports turf working environment would be an advantage
  • You should be a confident and creative individual with excellent interpersonal skills
  • Able to operate on your own initiative, and share knowledge
