Harleyford Golf Club prides itself on being one of the best golf clubs in the area. For us to be the best golf club we must have a team in place to provide a first-class service. The position of Golf Course & Estate Manager is an important one to the company.

The Golf Course and Estate Manager must:

  • Proactively manage the Greens operation daily.

  • Have a proactive management approach and good interpersonal skills to deal with employees, club members and members of the public using the club.

  • Have a ‘can always do’ attitude.

  • Understand the ethos of the company/club and respond accordingly, working within the management requirements and guidelines.

  • Can make decisions.

  • Have flexibility/willingness to adapt to change.

    Preferred Qualifications

  • Hands on leader to motivate the team by example

  • NVQ level 3 or Foundation Degree in Sports Turf Management

  • High operational standards with a task driven approach

  • Proven agronomical seasonal planning skills

  • A desire to produce the best presented golf courses in Buckinghamshire

  • Chainsaw and spraying certificates

  • Strong people management skills

Primary Responsibilities

  • To be responsible for all success and maintenance on the golf course, around the Clubhouse, within the greenkeepers compound and on the estate.

  • Communicating to staff, colleagues, other managers, golfers, and the public. 

  • Provide input into budgets, finance and resources required to improve and maintain the course & estate.

  • Monitor staff progression, organise relevant training and organise rotas.

  • Plan, monitor and measure the maintenance regime for the course.

  • Manage the environmental policy and course layout policy.

  • Liaise with suppliers and contractors as required.

  • Recommend and assist with developing improvements for the course and the overall performance.

  • Participate in, and coordinate, service operational reviews with the General Manager.

  • Assist with the recruitment, selection, training, and appraisal of staff when required.

  • Build and maintain effective working relationships within the Golf Club and externally (with suppliers, partners, and vendors).

  • Research and investigate product/technology changes which may impact or help improve the course.

  • Participate in a planned program of professional development to maintain growth in professional skills and knowledge.

  • Undertake other such duties, at any location, as assigned by the General Manager of the Golf Club or their representative.

  • Bring to the attention of managers any matters relating to the health and safety of staff, members, and visitors.

This role detail is a guide to the work you will initially be required to undertake. It may be changed from time to time to meet changing circumstances. It does not form part of your Contract of Employment.
