Deputy Course Manager
Copt Heath Golf Club, Solihull West Midlands, has the ambition to continue to be a leading sustainably focused golf club. It has targets to be Carbon Neutral by 2030, with projects including the installation of an irrigation storage lake. Agronomically, it has the desire to transition back to a fine turf site to improve playability and the long-term success of the course. It hosts the prestigious 72-hole McEvoy Trophy, an internation field played in April each year.
The Club are seeking a highly motivated, passionate Deputy Course Manager to help progress the course forward towards its sustainable future. You will be expected to manage the day-to-day running of the greenkeeping team, aid the course manager on agronomy targets and longer-term targets.
Key Responsibilities:
- Taking full responsibility of course management in the absence of the Course Manager
- Attend daily management meetings with Course Manager and Workshop Manager.
- Show a positive attitude to the setting standards of practice
- Motivate the greenkeeping team to ensure standards are consistently met
- Provide training to ensure these standards are met
- Ability to communicate with team members of all levels of experience
- Implement the club’s health and safety procedures and documents
Essential Attributes:
- Minimum NVQ Level 3 in turf management or equivalent
- PA1, 2a and 6 spraying qualifications
- Experience or show good knowledge of transition from Coase grasses to Fine grasses
- Strong leadership and communication skills
- IT Skills
- Show a good knowledge of all aspects of the greenkeeping industry
- Willingness to learn and expand your own knowledge/experiences

Desired attributes and experience:
- Experience/Knowledge of Irrigation set up and repair.
- Chainsaw certificates
- A good understanding of the game of golf
