The Club

  • Home to 2013 U.S Open Champion and former World Number One Justin Rose MBE, regular top 100 ranked golf course, as well as having hosted major Amateur Tournaments including the Men’s English Amateur Championship, The annual Hampshire Hog and Rose tournaments and previously Open Qualifying, North Hants Golf Club is well known for its quality and consistency, both on and off the golf course and the ability to deliver high profile championships.
  • The Golf course was originally designed by James Braid, extensively redesigned in 1913 by Harry Colt and further improved in 1930 by Tom Simpson before receiving minor design changes by Donald Steel and Tom Mackenzie. The club is now officially recognised as an England Golf Championship venue, something which the members are proud of

The Candidate

  • Our philosophy is to deliver the best possible member and guest experience through leadership and development of our teams, and the course manager position is crucial in delivering against this. We are seeking a natural leader to lead our greenkeeping team in taking their development, and in turn the golf course to the next level, including climbing up the top 100 course rankings. As well as the ability to lead, the successful candidate will be able to engage with members and guests at all levels and through all communication channels, updating on course maintenance activity and strategies as well as projects. The successful candidate will also possess a sharp eye for detail and a desire to deliver the highest possible standards of presentation, enhancing the long term health of the Golf Course

Applicants will, as a minimum, be expected to demonstrate a proven track record of the following:

  • Demonstrate a professional and modern approach to green keeping, whilst maintaining the traditions of the course based on sound agronomic practices aligned to the course policy document
  • A visionary approach to the future development and direction of the golf course
  • Ability to work closely with the General Manager and Management Committee to present an outstanding golf course, befitting an England Golf Championship venue and top 100 course
  • Recruit, develop, Inspire and lead the team to perform to a high standard
  • Plan, monitor, evaluate and manage golf course maintenance in accordance with the golf course policy document
  • Experience in golf course renovation programs, e.g. bunkers, tees, drainage, irrigation, heather and tree management
  • Minimum 3 years golf course leadership experience in a similar role with the ability to plan, organise and implement work programs through leadership and development of the team
  • Produce regular operational management reports and work in progress reports containing details of course condition, future season plans, financial performance and human resources
  • Consistent, proactive membership engagement utilising social media and other online platforms as communication vehicles
  • Build and manage a budget
  • Qualified to NVQ 3/4 or equivalent in Greenkeeping or higher in Sports Turf Management
  • Good working knowledge of fine turf machinery
  • Set machinery maintenance scheduling and replacement planning
  • Knowledge of and the ability to comply with current Health and Safety Legislation
  • Spraying certificates PA1, 2 & 6a is essential
  • NPTC Chainsaw licence 
  • Package will be negotiable dependent upon experience, qualifications, and more importantly, how you can demonstrate your ability to take the course to the next level
