Job Purpose



Under the general guidance of the Estate Manager carrying out turf maintenance, preparation of the course for play, machinery operation and maintenance, course construction, estate maintenance and identification of different grasses and plants.

The Person

You must demonstrate effective organisational skills and the ability to use initiative. You will have a NVQ Level 2 Qualification or better and a minimum of 3 years previous experience at Assistant Greenkeeper level. You should have a proven history of producing work at a high standard at either a 4 or 5 Star Club. You need to be a strong team player who is clearly customer focused, with a passion for greenkeeping, and a positive and progressive outlook. You will be flexible and able to work early mornings and weekends.



Primary Duties



• Maintain the golf courses and estate to specific high standards of presentation.


• Observe Safe Working practices and be aware of the Health and Safety at Work Act and fire regulations and ensure that these are strictly adhered to.


• Training required in: NVQ Level II Training at College and Health and Safety.


• To fully understand and follow all working procedures as specified by the Estate Manager


• To follow any reasonable request by a member of the Management Team.


• To attend regular staff meetings and liaise with other members of staff to ensure the overall smooth running of the operation.


• To advise the Estate Manager of any improvements or alterations which may significantly improve the service offered or the efficiency of its operation.


• To inform the Estate Manager of any concerns or opinions expressed by the members about the Golf Course or the Club in general.


• To carry out turf maintenance, preparation of the course for play, machinery operation and maintenance, course construction, estate maintenance and identification of different grasses and plants.


• Experience in the use and maintenance of irrigation systems.


• Spraying certification (PA1, PA2 & PA6) & Chainsaw Certificate desirable but not essential

Job Purpose

To manage all Greenkeeping and Estate Personnel and give guidance on the control of equipment, stock and purchasing. Manage the golf courses, grounds, gardens and estate to an extremely high level.

Key responsibilities and accountabilities:


1. Manage all estates staff to include: Training and development, succession planning and appraisal


2. Develop standard operating procedures for the golf courses, grounds, gardens and estate


3. Prepare and agree budgets, control costs and monitor working practices


4. Manage the Estate Health and Safety Policy


5. Develop and Manage an Estate Environmental Management Plan


6. Develop and deliver a golf course maintenance programme


7. Liaise with General Manager on upkeep and maintenance of Estate grounds and gardens

The Club’s 18-hole Championship course was developed using the natural contours of the countryside and every feature has been enhanced to add character to each hole.
