The use of hybrid turf reinforcement systems has become increasingly popular in sports pitches and is now seen as an essential element of pitch designs. These systems offer solutions to turf areas suffering from high use and trafic problems.
STRI is researching and developing affordable and effective solutions, utilising hybrid reinforcement and other construction methods that can be applied in new sports turf scenarios. This seminar will focus on the potential of hybrid turf solutions on golf courses. All golf courses, no matter what size, stature or course type, face problems in managing tees and walkway areas, especially through winter months. Hybrid turf solutions can act as a sustainable solution to many of these problems, whilst still maintaining a natural looking surface.
This seminar will showcase the pioneering developments currently being researched by STRI using hybrid solutions. These cost effective, self-lay installations can also be integrated with other innovative construction options aimed at addressing the challenges of trafic/play management and sustainable performance, where artificial surfaces are not desired.
Presented by Paul Woodham, Agronomy Manager and Dr Tom Young, Research Manager, STRI
