This Focus On session will uncover the mystery behind the biology and ecology of fairy rings in turf. It will discuss how to manage this trouble some affliction on golf courses, traditional links golf courses and sports pitches.

  • Understand the biology of those basidiomycete fungi that cause fairy rings in turf

  • Investigate the rootzone ecology of these fairy ring-causing fungi in turf ecosystem

  • The reason why there are three types of visual fairy ring symptoms expressed in turf

  • Explore cultural practices needed to manage fairy ring symptoms in turf

  • Explore the use of soil surfactants and water management to control the appearance of fairy ring symptoms in turf

  • Develop a fairy ring management plan for your turf site
