Qualifications & Training Providers
There are two types of training available to gain qualifications within the greenkeeping profession, Workbased and Work Related. The links below will take you to The Greenkeepers Training Committee website where full information on the different qualifications is available.
Workbased qualifications, more commonly known as vocational qualifications, indicate that the candidate can do a particular job at a particular level in the workplace. Vocational qualifications awarded in England and Wales are known as Work based Diplomas and those awarded in Scotland are known as Scottish Vocational Qualifications (SVQ’s).
The main differences between workbased (vocational qualifications) and work related qualifications are in the area of assessment. Candidates for vocational qualifications are assessed ‘at work’ whereas work related qualifications are usually assessed by examinations and relate to the National Occupational Standards.
Quality Assured Training Centres
The Greenkeepers Training Committee maintains a list of Training Providers to whom employers and greenkeeping students are directed. It is therefore important to research which provider and which course best suits your requirements and if your ‘local’ provider does not meet your needs, there is National provision available from a limited number of our Approved Providers.
