FAQ's

Continue to Learn is the educational part of the BIGGA Turf Management Exhibition (BTME) which is held in Harrogate, North Yorkshire, England, in January every year. There are events suitable for all levels of employees within the greenkeeping industry, from apprentices all the way through to golf club owners.

The Continue to Learn education programme is complied using feedback from BIGGA members and previous attendees.

Continue to Learn comprises:

Conferences

  • Turf Managers Conference - Multi session event specifically for Course Managers. This conference takes place on Monday of Continue to Learn at BTME.
  • YGC Conference - Multi session event specifically for young greenkeepers, hosted by the Young Greenkeepers Committee. This conference takes place on Wednesday of Continue to Learn at BTME.
  • GolfBIC - Golf Business Industry Convention. Multi session event specifically for Golf Course Owners, Operators and Managers. Hosted in conjunction with the UK Golf Course Owners Association (UKGCOA). This conference takes place on Wednesday of Continue to Learn at BTME.

Conferences must be pre-booked.

Workshops

  • Two, One and half-day events concentrating on one subject area. Workshops take place on Sunday and Monday of Continue to Learn at BTME.

Focus On Sessions

  • Two and three hour events on a specific subject. Focus On Sessions take place on Tuesday and Wednesday of Continue to Learn at BTME.

Career Development Sessions

  • One, two or three hour events concentrating on career development. Career Development Sessions take place on Tuesday and Wednesday of Continue to Learn at BTME.

Seminars

  • 45 minute and one hour events. Presented by a combination of invited speakers and exhibiting companies. Seminars take place on Tuesday and Wednesday of Continue to Learn at BTME.

Only BIGGA Members can pre-book seminars.

BIGGA members can pre-book a place for any of the listed Continue to Learn Seminars. 70 seminar places will be available for each of the sessions held on Tuesday 23 and Wednesday 24 January.

• Your pre-booked seminar tickets will be printed with your badge, on arrival at Harrogate Convention Centre

• If you do not have your ticket there is no guarantee of a place

• If pre-booked ticket holders have not arrived 5 minutes before the start of the seminar, there is no guarantee of a place or a seat

• If you arrive after the seminar start time, you may be denied entry

N.B. Pre-booking for Seminars can only be made for BIGGA Members

The remaining 40-50 places in the seminar room will be available, on a first come, first serve basis, to all visitors

General Session

  • One hour event, open to all attendees to BTME. The General Session takes place on Wednesday of Continue to Learn at BTME.

This session can be attended by all attendees to BTME and does not have to be pre-booked.

Partner Events

  • Events offered by Partner Associations (GCMA, STRI, BASIS)

How do I book Continue to Learn education?

  • Online - make you booking and pay by credit card
  • Telephone - bookings can be made by telephone and make your payment by credit card or provide invoice details
  • Post - complete and return the booking form with your payment details (cheque, credit card or invoice details)

How do I pay for Continue to Learn education?

  • Can I pay by credit card?

  • Can I pay by cheque?

Turf Rewards are accepted in payment for Bundle Discount Bookings

  • Can I pay by invoice?

Yes, if you have an account with BIGGA. If you do not have an account you may be required to set up a credit account with BIGGA.

How do Bundle Discounts work?

Available to BIGGA Members only

To help make training budgets stretch further and to provide greater flexibility, we offer Continue to Learn booking “Bundle” discounts. These Bundles provide a discount when booking multiple hours of education for an individual or multiple delegates from the same golf club. Bundle Discounts are only available to BIGGA Members. All of the eligible education events have an hour value listed in this brochure and on the booking form.

The Bundle Discounts are designed for individuals or several members of staff from the same golf club, to benefit from discount for booking multiple education events at the same time.

Bundles cannot be used for Partner events.

Continue to Learn 15-23 hours Bundle = 5% discount

Continue to Learn 24-32 hours Bundle = 10% discount

Continue to Learn 33+ hours Bundle = 15% discount

Which Association Members can access Member Rates?

Members of the following Associations are eligible to pay the ‘Member’ rates shown in this brochure for all events except Partner Events:

Continue to Learn Booking Confirmation

When you book any Continue to Learn events you will receive a booking confirmation. The confirmation will be sent via email to the email address provided on your booking.

Please check your booking confirmation once received as any errors may not be able to be rectified due to high demand for tickets.

The confirmation will provide details of where you should register for your Continue to Learn events.

Location of Education Events

Where should I register when I arrive in Harrogate?

You will receive a confirmation email advising you of the location of your events.

Delegates booked on events being held in the Queen’s Suite on Sunday 21 and Monday 22 January must register at the BIGGA Desk in the Queen’s Suite to collect their badge and delegate pack before proceeding to their pre-booked event.

Access to the Queen’s Suite on Sunday 21 and Monday 22 January will be from King’s Road, via Harrogate Convention Centre, Entrance 3 (Springfield House).

Access to the Queen’s Suite on Tuesday 23 and Wednesday 24 January will be via the escalator link between Exhibition Halls B and C.

Royal Hall (Harrogate Convention Centre) events

  • General Session

  • GolfBIC

Delegates booked on GolfBIC must register at the Registration desk in the Royal Hall to collect their badge and delegate pack before proceeding to the event.

Access to the Royal Hall on Tuesday 23 and Wednesday 24 January will be from the main entrance to the Royal Hall on Ripon Road.

Majestic Hotel Events

  • Turf Managers’ Conference
  • Young Greenkeepers Conference

  • Selected BIGGA workshops (delegates will be notified)
  • Mock Interviews

Delegates booked on events being held in The Majestic Hotel on Sunday 21, Monday 22 and Tuesday 23 and Wednesday 24 January must register at the BIGGA Desk in The Majestic Hotel before proceeding to their pre-booked event.

When will I receive my delegate badge?

Your confirmation email includes a unique barcode. Bring your confirmation email with you and your badge will be printed on arrival at Harrogate Convention Centre or The Majestic Hotel.

N.B. You will not be sent a badge in the post. ALL badges will be printed on arrival at Continue to Learn or BTME.

I have registered for a Continue to Learn event. Will my delegate badge provide access to the BTME exhibition?

Yes, all delegate badges will provide access into the BTME exhibition on Tuesday 23, Wednesday 24 and Thursday 25 January.

I have registered online for BTME, does this mean I can attend the education at Continue to Learn?

If you wish to attend any of the educational sessions from Sunday to Wednesday, you need to book in advance (except for Seminars).

If you have registered to attend an education event, your badge will give you entry into the exhibition so you don't need to register again.

I am a greenkeeper, can I attend the Turf Manager's Conference?

Yes, however the educational content will be delivered at the level advertised.

Can I attend any of the Continue to Learn events, regardless of the recommended level advertised?

Yes, however the educational content will be delivered at the level advertised.

Continue to Learn provides educational events for all levels of turf professionals from apprentices through to golf course owners. A quick guide is provided in the Continue to Learn brochure and online, helping you to identify who the events are aimed at. This is only a guide and anyone can attend any of the events, however the educational content will be delivered at the level advertised.

Seminar Pre Booking for BIGGA Members

BIGGA members can pre-book a place for any of the listed Continue to Learn Seminars. 70 seminar places will be available for each of the sessions held on Tuesday 23 and Wednesday 24 January.

Booking Terms and Conditions

Payment must be received by Friday 12 January 2018.

VAT at the prevailing rate will be added. The Continue to Learn programme is a service provided within the UK and VAT must be paid by all attendees. VAT No. GB 500 2920 05.

Invoices

A request for a credit invoice must be accompanied by a signed, official order. Invoices cannot be issued to overseas delegates. Payment is due 28 days from the invoice date or by 12 January 2018, whichever is earlier. No invoices will be issued after 20 December 2017. If you do not have a credit account with BIGGA a Credit Account Application form must be completed before an invoice can be raised.

Cancellation Policy

Cancellations must be received in writing. Cancellations received prior to 20 December 2017 will be refunded in full, less a cancellation fee of £35. No refunds will be given for cancellations received after 20 December 2017.
