Supported by Ransomes Jacobsen, Scotts and Syngenta, the BIGGA Golf Environment Competition has long been the most prominent platform from which the golf industry can demonstrate its environmental awareness and stewardship.
The competition is not just for the elite golf clubs who have developed environmental policies over many years, it is also for those clubs that are just starting down the road and are looking for support and justification for their environmental work. Neither is the competition the sole preserve of the affluent and influential clubs – the Competition is open to all clubs irrelevant of size or history and no emphasis is placed on prestige; only on effort and attitude.
All applications submitted for the 2007 BIGGA Golf Environment Competition will receive feedback on their entry and guidance on future ecological/environmental issues, which may help clubs with future entries. The short listed golf clubs from each region (i.e. Scotland, Wales, Northern England, Midlands, South East England, South West England) will receive a visit from one of the team of judges. A free, detailed report with comments and suggestions will be sent to the club following the judges visit.
The prizes are:
• National winner - £2000 plus a Scotts’ Weather Station
• Runner up in the winner’s region - £500
• Regional winners - £500
• Best new entrant - £500
• Best individual initiative/project - £500
