Job Description


St Andrews Links is a dynamic and innovative organisation, home to seven golf courses including the world famous Old Course, a state of the art Golf Academy, three Clubhouses and five retail shops.

We are looking for Greenkeepers for the 2018 season, (mid-April until mid-October) to work in the department to help prepare the courses for play each day.

The job would be five days from seven while you would also be expected to work additional hours every second or third week on average although more hours could be undertaken by mutual agreement.

Approximate times are 5.30am until 1.30pm through the bulk of the season.

Ideally suited to any greenkeeper looking to expand their knowledge and learn about different grasses, soils and tournament preparations while experiencing a different culture.

This is also a great opportunity for any greenkeeper returning to the UK or Europe after experiencing southern hemisphere life and looking to get back into the industry in the UK. For the successful candidates, it could lead to a permanent position if one becomes available.

Tasks would include most mowing operations, course set-up and the usual general tasks associated with golf course maintenance.

Full training will be provided prior to using any equipment while throughout the season and St Andrews Links will endeavor to run various seminars, workshops or external training courses to the benefit of each individual. Part of the package would include a golf ticket, staff discount, a uniform and any relevant personal protective clothing is provided.

The successful candidates should be passionate about providing the best possible playing surfaces to ensure we deliver memorable experiences to every golfer at the Home of Golf.

Working under direction from the Course Manager, Deputy Course Manager or Supervisor they must possess the following attributes and qualifications:

  • Self-motivated with a positive attitude, they should aspire to high standards and good team morale.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • A strong work ethic and ability to demonstrate they can work as part of a team and as an individual.
  • Good time management and communication skills.
  • A minimum of one years’ experience of working on a golf course or sports pitch
  • A full UK Driving License is not essential
