Rob Welford, Course Manager at Cleethorpes Golf Club, is celebrating after qualifying for the Audi quattro Cup World Final in South Africa.
Rob, who has a handicap of two, secured his place in the final of the world's largest amateur competition during a tense round at Bowood Golf & Country Club in Wiltshire.
He will join three other qualifiers from the Cleethorpes area for a once in a lifetime trip to the spectacular Arabella Golf Club in Western Cape, South Africa in November where he will battle the world's elite amateurs for the ultimate prize. Over 90,000 golfers from across the globe enter 785 heats for a place on the plane.
Rob said: "It's just a dream. No-one knew each other's scores until the evening which really built the tension up, and when my name was read out I was just amazed. It's still sinking in.
"As well as two rounds of intense, competitive golf in South Africa, there's also a track day and a concert. A couple of years ago Take That played, and I've heard rumours this year the act is Lady Gaga. It's going to be a phenomenal week."
Everyone at BIGGA wishes Rob all the very best - keep an eye on the news section to keep tabs on his progress.
