More BIGGA members than ever will head to TPC Sawgrass

The 2017 BIGGA delegation who attended TPC Sawgrass for the Players Championship back in May described the experience as an “unforgettable” experience.

And the best thing is, John Deere is once again inviting BIGGA members to apply for next year’s volunteer programme, meaning even more members will experience the career-changing opportunities that come with preparing one of the world’s most iconic courses for one of golf’s largest events.

Once again, one Full Member from each of BIGGA’s five regions will be invited on to the all-expenses paid trip to Florida, where they will join around 75 greenkeepers from all over the world and ensure the course is in pristine condition for the event, held from 8-13 May 2018.

For the first time ever, an additional member from overseas will also be invited to join the team, meaning six BIGGA delegates will be travelling to the US next year.

Still not convinced? Hear are some of the things this year’s delegates said about the experience:

Richard Johnstone, Dunbar: “The whole experience surpassed anything I had ever expected. I would highly recommend the programme to anyone who wants to be part of something very special.”

Paul Walton, Sharpley Springs: “For any greenkeeper I would say to you, just give it a go. Get yourself out of your comfort zone and I promise it will be worth it.”

Sam Evans, Fulwell: “It truly was the experience of a lifetime, one that none of the volunteers will be able to replicate again. Yes it is hard work, yes they area long days, yes you don’t get much sleep, but what you can take away is priceless.”

The deadline for registering your interest is 28 July 2017. The closing date for submitting the video, which is stage 2 of the process, is 1 September 2017. Interviews will be held during September and October 2017.
