Former section chairman passes away

A former Northern section chairman of BGGA passed away last weekend.

Colin Geddes was described as one of the great characters among Yorkshire greenkeepers by close friend Ian Tomlinson.

Speaking on the BIGGA Members' Forum, Ian said: "It was Colin, who was a family friend, who introduced me to greenkeeping as a boy and I spent many weekends raking bunkers or moving the holes with him. He was a great mentor and a friend, who I was fortunate to have had in my life."

Colin spent the majority of his career at Moor Allerton, Leeds, where he took over course management duties from his father, George.

His funeral is due to take place on Monday 20 March at 11.40am at Rawdon Crematorium, Leeds, LS19 6JP.
